Background

The Ed’s was founded in 1997 to meet the needs of the growing population of South Londoners looking to escape the humdrum of daily working life.

Renowned for its friendly atmosphere, the club welcomes people of all ages and all abilities and has seen its membership grow to over 200 members over the last decade.

The Ed’s is based in Battersea Park and holds training sessions at the Park. We have three men’s teams, four women’s and one mixed side.

What level of hockey do we play?

Our men’s teams compete in the Hampshire/Surrey Regional South Hockey League. The 1XI and 2XI play in the top and second divisions respectively.

All four women’s teams play in the Surrey Women's League, with the 1XI competing in the Premier Division.

Friendly mixed matches are organised on Sundays. Mixed games, tournaments and summer leagues run throughout the off-season.

I am a goalie, are there any special membership dispensations if I want to try the club out?

We realise that as a goalie you may want to ensure that the standard of training and support you get at the club is appropriate before you commit to a season’s membership.

This is why we offer goalies the opportunity to postpone payment of their subscription until after Christmas in each season.

Goalies are valued as any other member of the team and membership is charged at the normal rate of £250 if you choose to commit at this time.

In addition to the benefits listed above, Eds goalies can receive the following perks:

- Loans to purchase personal kit
- Subsidies for specialist training courses
